My father-in-law had a great comment after visiting Southpointe a few weeks back. He thought the preaching was great and that the worship service was also great. But then he said, "The most difficult decision most of the members at Southpointe seem to have on Sunday morning is which Tshirt should I wear?"
I must admit I laughed out loud when he said that. He hit the nail on the head. We are a Tshirt wearing church. I don't think that's necessarily good or bad, but it is the truth. I hope that we don't make people in suits feel uncomfortable.
All that to say, we may not take our dress too seriously (although maybe we should), but we do take our theology very seriously. If we took ourselves too seriously, Southpointe would be like most of the other churches in Nashville. If we didn't take God and His Word seriously, we would probably be a lot like most of the churches in Nashville (unfortunately).
